The Client wanted to create an elegant, luxurious and high functioning, yet sleek and relatively understated, holiday home. The house is located in a fantastic spot, close to a beautiful part of the UK coastline, and with enviable views and panorama. The style and functionality of the home was intended to maximise the location and offer a super smart and effective enhancement to the property, whilst leaving the location and vista as the ‘main event’.
The basis of our solution was a fully integrated Control4 package which was cost effective, with flexible functionality, and a simple to use interface including both wall mounted and hand held controllers, depending on the location, functionality and anticipated usage.
The Control4 configuration was designed to overlay and interface with the following; a multi-zone music system, a centrally distributed and multi-zone HD video system with multiple input sources (HD TV, Sky, Media servers etc), a programmed lighting system together with blind, curtain and motorized window control, the heating system, and not least, the access control and security systems within the property. In addition to which everything is also able to be controlled remotely.
Some of the interesting features of this project included:
- Recessed TV’s were specified within the build for both the Snug and Guest Bedrooms to keep the clean lines and specific design aesthetic required by the client
- Lighting controls was designed to incorporate electric windows and blinds / curtains throughout the property, which, due to its high location and proximity to the coast, is very sensitive to light and weather changes
- As with the lighting, automated window openers were also programmed for when room reaches a certain temperature, provided the rain sensor is dry and the alarm isn’t set
- Security and logistics were also taken into account with automated front gate access with video intercom. A custom faceplate for video intercom was also designed and incorporated into the keypad design
